In their day, Roman Emperors walked along Capri’s pristine shores. The jade coloured sea, and it’s Blue grotto, will make you realize why this place has been a safe haven for a lot of artists and why it gave so much inspiration to their creations.
From Rome, travel south by bus until Naples wherw you’ll see Mount Vesuvius and the Mediterranean Sea,where we will take a ferry to reach the island of Capri.
Your guide will wait us there and will take You to enjoy traditional lunch, and afterwords, on the walking tour to explore the city centar and colorfull mediterranian architecture, famous squares and alleys.
Finally, our adventure will take You on a boat to visit the Blue Grotto, the sea cave that has cristaline blue reflection caused by the sunlight. This extraordenary place is one of the natural wonders of the world!
During the reign of Tiberius in Roman times, the grotto was used as a marine temple, and ancient Roman statues found here are now on display at the Casa Rossa in Anacapri. For many years afterwards, the Blue Grotto was avoided by sailors, as local legends told of spirits and demons living there.
At the back of the main cave of the Blue Grotto, three connecting passages lead to the”Room of Names”, which owes its name to the graffiti left by visitors over the centuries. Two other passages lead deeper into the rocks on the side of the island. These passages were thought to be ancient stairways leading to the palace of Emperor Tiberius. However, they are natural passages that taper off and then end further down.
We will finish our jurney going back to Naples to drive in Rome in the time for dinner!
